Why go

Zhongyuan is the canteen for Chung Yuan Christian University: Shijian Road and Rixin Road are lined with soup dumplings, scallion buns, crème brûlée, grilled quail eggs and sweet potato balls, all at student prices. It opens at 4 pm every day, earlier than most night markets, so it suits an early dinner.

To be straight with you, it has gone quieter. A March 2026 report describes many shopfronts with for-lease signs and some old favorites closed, and there is no train or MRT station nearby. If you are already in Zhongli or staying near the university, it is worth an eating loop; if you only have time for one Taoyuan market, Zhongli Tourist Night Market is easier to reach.

Where to find the top stalls

There is no single market street. The busiest part is Shijian Road and Rixin Road beside Chung Yuan Christian University, plus the Bode food court (柏德美食廣場). Most of the places below are shopfronts with a house number. Drivers can use the underground car park at Zhongyuan Elementary School (Taoyuan Tourism page).

Night-market stalls rarely have their own address. We describe each position only as our dated sources state it. If you cannot see it, show the sign text to a vendor nearby. Stalls move and hours change, so check before a special trip.

Know before you go

• A March 2026 report says many shopfronts now have for-lease signs, some familiar shops have closed, and the area feels quieter; the city says street vending here is not licensed and can be fined
• Not near a rail or MRT station: about 30 minutes on foot from Zhongli TRA station
• A reviewer quoted in November 2025 says scooters park and weave through the area, and there are few public restrooms
