What NightMarket.tw is
NightMarket.tw is an independent English-language guide to Taiwan's night markets, written from years of living here and eating through them. The launch edition covers 25 markets across Taipei, New Taipei City, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. We keep every market's Traditional Chinese name front and center, because that is the name on the signs, in the maps, and on the lips of the taxi driver taking you there.
What makes it different
We do not pretend every night market is the same experience. Some are pedestrian destination markets. Some are local food streets where scooters thread past your elbow while you order. Some are historic temple districts, and some are big rotating lots that only run certain nights. We say which is which, and we flag the traffic, the crowds, the transit gaps, and the schedule risks that generic best-of lists quietly leave out.
Research approach
Selection and ordering draw from official tourism information, Google Maps and Tripadvisor review signals, current operating information, and our own judgment about what actually serves a visitor. Review numbers are shown with the date we captured them, never passed off as live.
What comes next
The database is built to grow: more cities, richer food-stall pages, and over time the practical details we care about most, like rain coverage, seating, toilets, payment, and verified day-of-operation updates. Spot something wrong? The contact page goes straight to us.
