Garden is Tainan's flagship and the market that taught the rest of Taiwan the rotating-schedule rhythm. It only operates certain nights, which means when it is on, the whole city seems to show up. Rows of food stalls, games, clothing, and a crowd that turns the aisles into slow rivers.

The braised food stalls and the spicy duck blood anchor our eating list, with candied sweet potato for the walk between them. One planning note that matters more here than anywhere: the schedule has shifted over the years. Friday was only added in October 2025, and older listings still leave it out. Check before you build an evening around it.

Where to find the top stalls

A June 2025 guide counted 12 north-to-south rows: the four east rows (1 to 4) are food, and the west rows are goods and games. The main entrance is at the northeast corner, where Hewei Road meets Hai'an Road. Since October 2025, rows 3 and 4 have been a food street. Stalls are packed up every night, so positions can shift.

Night-market stalls rarely have their own address. We describe each position only as our dated sources state it. If you cannot see it, show the sign text to a vendor nearby. Stalls move and hours change, so check before a special trip.

The market is largely open-air, and sources disagree about rain: a 2026 blog says a partial canopy of about 100 m over the main aisle is fine for short showers, while Wikipedia says the market closes on rainy days. Seating

Toilets

Paying

Parking
