The quick read
Why go
Xingzhong is the dinner street of the Sanduo shopping district: one block of Wenheng 2nd Road squeezed between the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and SOGO department stores, lined on both sides with stalls selling pork thick soup, fried chicken, salt-water chicken and sweet potato balls. It is not built for tourists. It is where office workers and students around Sanduo pick up dinner, every night of the week and late.
It is small, and the stalls sit along a road that stays open to traffic, so it is not worth crossing the city for. But if you are staying around Sanduo or have just finished at the malls, it is five minutes away: start with a bowl of Nao Wei's shiitake pork thick soup, then take a bag of salt-water chicken or licorice guava with you.

Where to find the top stalls
Xingzhong is one street: Wenheng 2nd Road, from Sanduo 3rd Road across Xingzhong 1st Road to Yongkang Street, about 180 meters, starting at the corner of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Sanduo store. Recent guides name the stalls but give no house numbers.
Night-market stalls rarely have their own address. We describe each position only as our dated sources state it. If you cannot see it, show the sign text to a vendor nearby. Stalls move and hours change, so check before a special trip.
