Sanhe is the easiest authentic market to reach from central Taipei. One stop over the bridge to Taipei Bridge station and you are standing in roughly 800 meters of Sanchong street life, where the prices drop and the English signage mostly disappears. That trade works strongly in your favor.
The local classics run deep here: intestine vermicelli, Changhua-style meatballs, papaya milk, peanut ice cream rolls. It is a long, lively strip with branches, so wander without a plan and follow the queues. The lines know things.
Our tip: The market branches off the main street more than maps suggest. If a side lane looks busy, that is your invitation.
