Why go

Cross the river into Yonghe and you get Lehua, our top pick in New Taipei and honestly one of the best all-around markets in the metro area. It is big, with several hundred food stalls and shops across a few connected streets, but the crowd is overwhelmingly local. Same energy as the famous Taipei markets, fewer selfie sticks.

The deep-fried pork rib soup is the signature order, and the sweet potato balls have a following that borders on religious. Between the food you get clothing, shoes, games, and electronics, which makes it an easy full evening rather than a quick meal.

Where to find the top stalls

The market runs along Yongping Road from Yonghe Road to Zhongshan Road, plus Baofu Road Section 1 and Lane 18 of Baoping Road. The main gateway arch is on Yonghe Road, about 8 to 10 minutes on foot from Dingxi MRT Exit 1. Food stands sit at the two ends of Yongping Road, with clothing and shoe shops in the middle.

Night-market stalls rarely have their own address. We describe each position only as our dated sources state it. If you cannot see it, show the sign text to a vendor nearby. Stalls move and hours change, so check before a special trip.
