Daqing is Hanxi's younger sibling on the south side: another big purpose-built lot, over 250 stalls, restrooms, organized walkways, four nights a week. Fewer international visitors find it, which is precisely its charm. This is Taichung feeding itself.
The lineup leans playful: rou jia mo, oven-baked fish, cast-iron black pepper noodles, churros, watermelon juice. One naming trap to avoid: despite the name, it is not right beside Daqing rail station, so plan on a taxi or YouBike.
Our tip: Open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Wednesday is the calm night; parking chaos peaks on weekends.
