The quick read
Why go
Jingmei is what a big Taipei night market looks like when the tour buses do not come. Hundreds of vendors, more than thirty years of trading, and a crowd of families and students from the neighborhood. It is right at Jingmei station on the green line, so it is easy to reach and still almost entirely local.
The food is cheap, everyday, and good: Shanghai-style pan-fried buns, Taiwanese salty fried chicken, charcoal-grilled skewers, angelica duck, and sesame oil chicken when the weather turns, with douhua to finish. Come hungry and graze.

Where to find the top stalls
The city lists the night market on Jingmei Street from Jingzhong Street to Lane 282 of Jingxing Road, plus two side lanes running between Jingwen Street and Jinghou Street. Food guides locate stalls by Jingmei Street or Jingwen Street house number.
Night-market stalls rarely have their own address. We describe each position only as our dated sources state it. If you cannot see it, show the sign text to a vendor nearby. Stalls move and hours change, so check before a special trip.
