Why go
Ningxia is the eater's market. It is short, it is dense, and almost every stall is food. No claw machines, not much clothing, just a compact strip in Datong where the locals go to have dinner. If your night-market goal is a serious meal rather than a carnival, start here.
This is oyster omelette territory, and the fried taro balls have their own devoted following. The market's small size is the whole point: you can survey everything in ten minutes, then commit. It also sits close to Dadaocheng, so an evening here pairs naturally with a late-afternoon walk through the old trading streets.

Where to find the top stalls
Ningxia's stalls run in a central row and each has its number on the sign, so stall numbers are the easiest way to find one. Shops along the sides use Ningxia Road street numbers instead. One guide reports that stall numbers start at the Minsheng West Road (north) end and rise toward the south.
Night-market stalls rarely have their own address. We describe each position only as our dated sources state it. If you cannot see it, show the sign text to a vendor nearby. Stalls move and hours change, so check before a special trip.

Where: A shop at Ningxia Road No. 46, in the middle section of the market.
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 to 14:30 and 16:30 to 01:00. Closed Mondays. Cash only.

Where: Stall No. 091. The number is on the stall. Its sign may add 蛋黃芋餅 or 香酥芋丸 after the name.
Hours: From about 17:00 to midnight or later.
